Book Three - Join the chase!!
He had $3,000 in chips. He was looking for weak players in a game of Texas Hold 'Em. That was enough in chips to pressure a poor player and he did not mind folding early. Folding was always a good bluff and he had no mercy or respect for even a talented player or card counter that was weak on folding. Rarely did he play all in. He would rather keep chips in his pockets than do that. Play the player as well as the cards. He fully intended to do so tonight. He was dressed to kill.
He felt like the devil tonight as he pulled the handle of his slot machine. He felt like no one could beat him. He had heard about the late night special on the news airing local complaints about him. He could care less. He was all about money tonight. He fully expected to win his match in chips -- another $3,000. No pocketing anything tonight. He needed to bide his time and spring at the weakest point in another player's game. Soon a place opened up at just the right table. Three weak players with a lot of money to throw at the game. That's why he was at the slots, so he could watch the poker tables and sit down when he felt he had the advantage.
Officer Carlton Thomas was a bad cop. He knew it and didn't care. He cared about money, not even his son could make him feel anything. His son was the accident of a careless hippie chick and had never cared about beating the system. If it hadn't been for Chief Buzzy Ackerman of the Silver Lake Police Carlton would no longer be in law enforcement. He also did not care about this. He already had enough money to retire in style and play poker for a living.
It was up to Asia Reynolds, her niece Sylvia, local cable newscaster Elise Jamison and Sergeant Sheila Rodriguez to tighten the net around Officer Thomas which might prove easier to do than they expected.
